Currently we play a wide variety of league games every week during the Winter Season, including time-limited and set formats, as well as a spoons ladder format.

A player can enter as many leagues as they wish. To play in a league, the player must be a Member of EDIBC, with the exception of the Tuesday Evening Triples Cash Challenge which invites teams from other bowls clubs who play for significant cash prizes.

We also play in various external leagues for both Men and Ladies; for historical reasons, our Men are affiliated to Hampshire Indoor Bowls whilst our Ladies are affiliated to Dorset Indoor Bowls. See here for more information on the external leagues in which we participate.

League Type

Pairs     |     Traditional and Aussie, Mens, Ladies and Open

Pairs, as the name suggests, is teams of two people playing against each other. These teams can be either men only, women only or one of each. We do not play traditinal pairs leagues but we do play the popular Aussie pairs format:

• Winter League 3: Monday, 15:30 - 17:30,and League 4: 17:30 - 19:30
  
• Winter League 18: 7+7+Tie-break format - Friday, 18:30 - 20:30

• Summer League 3: Monday, 10:00 - 12:00
• Summer League 5: Wednesday, 10:00 - 12:00

Triples     |     Mens, Ladies and Open

Traditionally played with three woods and in male, female or open teams of three.

• Winter League 1: Open Triples: Monday, 9:30 - 11:30
• Winter League 2: Ladies Triples: Monday, 13:30 - 15:30
• Winter League 7: Mens Triples : Tuesday, 15:30 - 17:30
  
• Winter League 10: Open Triples: Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30
  
• Winter League 11: Open Triples for new bowlers: Wednesday, 13:30 - 15:30
  
• Winter League 12: Open Triples 6+6 format: Wednesday, 19:30 - 21:30

Rinks (Fours)     |     Mens, Ladies and Open

For many players, rinks is "real bowls" with teams of four competing with two woods each.

• Winter League 6: Ladies Fours :Tuesday, 11:30 - 13:30
• Winter League 13: Mens Fours :Thursday, 9:30 - 11:30

Spoons Ladder |     open to all

• Spoons Ladder Drive: Thursday, 17:30 - 19:30

This is not a league, it is a ladder based on the Spoons format. In spoons, Members are placed into random teams on random rinks - giving Cygnets and newer bowlers an equal chance as the more experienced players. Many newer Members agree that the interaction with experienced plauyers offered by the spoons format provides a great path from beginners into leagues.
